How I Actually MADE Money with IKEA in Italy
I love IKEA...it's One of the Greatest Stores on Earth. Check this out: I actually learned How to make extra cash with IKEA in Italy!
You Heard Right! This is my experience of IKEA, the reasons why you will agrees with me with both love IKEA, and this is what made a very nice side business! But first, I'm going to give you my reasons as to WHY I love IKEA!! Cool?
IKEA really put so much thought into the actual customer experience when designing everything from their furniture to customer traffic flow inside the building to even what to do with the kids when mom and dad are showing...they put it together like a Swiss Watch or a German Tank or a French Desert or....well, you get the point.
I fell in love with IKEA because even from the parking lot, the store "makes sense". There are parking spots very close to the doors which a for minivans or family vehicles which makes it easy to get the kids corralled into the store.
When you enter, there is a big play place for the kids to hang out and play which is secured and monitored. This allows you to shop without having the kids asking if they can have this or have that...don't think it's too bad--try it with 5 and let me know how many pills you need to get through your day.
That's right. From IKEA in Cincinnati OH, to Rome Italy, just strolling along looking at all the stuff gives wonderful ideas of what you can/will do to your dwelling place. Each area of IKEA has model rooms showing how to layout the furniture for maximum space.
Take a Date to IKEA. Seriously, this is a really great idea. First, it's inside so if there 3ft of snow or 113 degrees outside--who cares. There is a GREAT restaurant in each IKEA with great food, and it is very inexpensive. If you are a cheap date or in college and "got no money" IKEA is your pick.
--You will be able to tell so much by walking around IKEA and just listening to your date. I'm talking about if they are a spend thrift (want to buy everything and just put it on the credit card) or if they want a family ("oh look, kids can't break that!" --that's a clue) if they like all rainbow colors or everything black...IKEA is a great way to silently make up YOUR mind about that other person.
--You're welcome.
I mentioned it above, but let's say you need a bite to eat and can't decide where to go...IKEA has never let me down....except in the elevator. IKEA designed their eating area for quick in, get your food, eat, and get out--but enjoy it the whole time.
Plus, IKEA has really great coffee. Get your coffee and walk around the rest of the store!
Let me tell you straight up that this really works...and works WELL. When I did this, I was in Rome Italy. Rome actually has 2 IKEAs but the stores blanket Europe. Also, you can do this gig in America but you might have a little more competition.
IN ITALY, people have retired from the career and moved to the country to live out the rest of their days. ALL of these people speak English.
IKEA is insanely popular in Rome and there are many many people who shop there on a daily basis. There are Facebook Groups of people who live or work in Rome.
There are many English speaking people in and around Rome who need help with moving furniture to or from an apartment or house. BECAUSE THEY don't speak great Italian, they hop on Facebook and ask if anybody with a van or truck can/will help them move. **Little side note, some Italian people try this but they overpriced their service--big time!
My friend had a van (like the above picture) which the seats could come out. On every post, the reply would be: have vehicle, and native English speaker. This simple reply worked like a charm...everybody would instantly contact back and give us the details of what to move/how far/etc etc.
IKEA came into play because people who buy things from IKEA, and we would meet them there (at IEKA), pick up whatever they ordered (the person was there), and drive it to the location. You see, everything you get from IKEA comes in a box where YOU build it at home....so this worked out GREAT.
English speaking people would meet us at IKEA, IKEA employees would bring down the boxes, and we stuffed them into the van, and drove it to where ever they wanted! Making around 500 Euros a pop!
This is the most mind blowing thing! IKEA doesn't have much stuff online. You must go to the closest IKEA store, and then get everything you need/want because (most of the time) you had to measure your room, and then purchase stuff from IKEA to fit into your smaller spaces.
NOT ANYMORE!
Amazon has a vast amount of IKEA goodies and they deliver it to you! (Of course you knew that--but I had to finish the thought). So NOW, if all you need is a bookshelf and the nearest IKEA is 400 miles away....no problem! Just get it from Amazon!
So yes, I love IKEA, but if you find yourself in Italy (or anywhere in Europe for that matter) and you need/want to make a little extra income on the side...seriously try what I just told you. My buddy actually had to turn down business--that's how much people needed/wanted an English speaking man to help them move.
