Let's get to what I really loved about Venice--and the things I believe YOU will agree with me!
1. Saint Mark's Square.
First---here is the Wiki Link for Saint Mark's Square for all you people who love the history side of things. But what I loved about it is the simple fact that it's the hub of Venice. When you dock from a tourist boat it seems that everything funnels towards the square.
The shops are great, the food is great and then you can get a tour of Saint Mark's Church. The great crazy bell ringing is an out of this world show. Mechanical bell ringers strike the bells of the church telling the hour! It is a wonderful sight to see!
The best is the Square at night...there is great music all the time...I found a quick video clip of a local group performing in Saint Mark's Square at night:

2. The Glass Factory.
THE Glass Factory is actually on a separate island in Venice which is called Murano. It's just a little water taxi ride and cost about 5-10 euros (it's a real racket, but worth it). You get to actually watch a world master craftsmen turn a molten glob of goo into something amazing right in front of your eyes!
The "gift shop" looks more like a museum than an actual gift shop with glass stuff ranging from 5-10 euro to thousands of dollars. --The crazy thing is that you can order something handmade for whatever your heart desires. Want a million dollar chandelier???...no problem, got you cover, just tell us where to ship it! Insane.
Manged to dig up a YT video about the glass blowing in Murano, check it out:
Wrapping It Like A Gift!
These are just 2 of my things which I loved about Venice, Italy when I traveled there...I really enjoyed Venice.
