The 3 Types of Best Places to Stay in Italy While Traveling - Part 2 of 3

Why I Believe a Bed & Breakfast is One of the BEST Places to Stay in Italy While traveling.   Part 2 of 3 Travel Tips!

If you are staying in Italy more than 1 night (who does that anyway, duh!) then you must have a place to sleep!  However, choosing the right place FOR YOU will give you the lifelong lasting impressions of your travels in Italy.  --After all, doesn't everybody ask you, "How was the room?"

Staying at a Bed & Breakfast.

Most people's first mental image of a Bed & Breakfast is the place where Bill Murray stayed in the movie Groundhog Day:

No.  You are traveling to Italy and their is a good reason why B&B's are in the top best places to stay in Italy...let's talk about it!

The Money.

Let's start at the beginning and work forward.  Italy is not the financial juggernaut of say it's neighbor Germany, and Italy doesn't really seem to be clawing it's way out of it's financial hole.  Employment is a problem in Italy, and some people have found a way to create some income by opening their homes to vacationers.

These people know that can't compete with hotels (see the last post for the hotel post) some they must compete in 2 areas:  cost and quality.  --After all, if it's too expensive...you will just find another place.  AND if it's a flea bag....you will not stay there AND you will tell everybody about it.

This starts our foundation for one of the reasons why a good Bed & Breakfast is one of the Best places to stay in Italy--the better experience YOU have, the more business THEY will create.

The Family.

Italians are a proud people...don't believe me, just ask one!  An Italian Home is the expressed image of an Italian Family.  If you decided to stay at an Italian B&B, the owners feel compelled to make sure you enjoy your time:  their family name is at stake!  It is an "image thing" for an Italian family to make sure you have a wonderful time in their country--they don't want you thinking ill towards them or an the idea that they can't take care of a traveler!  That's a major "No No".  It's like an Italian man not being suave...it's the greatest insult, forget about it!!

To wrap that last point up, the B&B really boils down to a culture thing, and an Italian household wants to leave only good impressions with the people which stay with them.

Actual Italy Trip.

Remember, the whole idea is you are in Italy to see ITALY, the B&B is nice but you are planning to tour the cities and country side.  MOST Bed & Breakfasts are located inside the city limits yet not on the downtown corner.  If you are traveling in Italy for the first time, the hotel blog post is for you.  However, if this is your 2nd trip...you might want to see the actual countryside and experience life OUTSIDE the big city.  It's like two completely different worlds in the same country!  B&B's will give you the feel that you are staying in Italy...staying in your friend's home.  If your idea of a vacation is just to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city...a B&B will give you your desires.

The win/win side is that you are still close enough to everything:  you can have the big city sights and sounds AND experience the rural side with vineyards and olive groves.  B&B's in Italy allow you to have it YOUR way.

Lasting Impression.

I believe you are the type of person who can and will make decisions for yourself.  I hope this post gives you just a little more information so you can enjoy your trip to Italy to the fullest!  To be honest with you, the "best places to stay in Italy" are actually the places YOU personally make the best.  Not trying to sound crazy--it's just that Italy is different for everyone.  What YOU want is different from what I want, etc, etc...however, I hope this info gives you that little nudge to try a Bed & Breakfast on your trip to Italy (or anywhere for that matter).
